Inglewood is home to TET stadium with its world-class, all-weather Mondo athletic track as well as the Fun Ho! National Toy Museum which has on display over 3,000 Fun Ho! toys and a hay barn style theatrette.
History: Inglewood was named by Philip Colin Threkeld for Inglewood Forest in Cumberland, United Kingdom. The settlement was founded in 1873, and its name rapidly progressed from Moatown to Milton, before being renamed to Inglewood in 1875 to avoid confusion with Milton in the South Island.
A number of buildings are listed by the New Zealand Historic Places Trust. Of those, the Railway Station and Yard is the only one listed as Category I. The McDonald Real Estate building on the corner of Rata and Richmond Streets is one of eight listed as Category II.
Inglewood was home to the Moa-Nui Co-operative Dairies factory, before it merged with Kiwi Co-operative Dairies (later Fonterra) based at Hawera in 1991. Until comparatively recently, the dual chimneys of the factory could be seen from miles away.
